Join Antonelli's Advanced Automotive and COPMOBA for August Trail Work Event

Antonelli's Advanced Automotive's Mechanics

August 28 and 29, 2021

Join COPMOBA, the Grand Valley Forest Ranger District and Antonelli’s Advanced Automotive as we continue work on a new connector in the Flowing Park area of Grand Mesa.

We have the corridor clear and need to build a good portion of the trail from the Dropoff Trail to the Flowing Park Trail. This connector will offer another 3 miles of single track as an option when riding the Flowing Park/Indian Point loop or a great short loop option with Dropoff Trail and Flowing Park trail.

Workday meeting spot: 9:00 am at the Flowing Park trailhead near the reservoir of the same name on both Saturday and Sunday. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver before starting work. You can either ride or walk to worksite. The Drop Off trail is a motorized trail so e-bikes can access the worksite. No experience necessary as COPMOBA will be furnishing the crew leaders and tools. We will use B.O.B. trailers to haul tools.

Antonelli’s Advanced Automotive will be hosting the BBQ after the Saturday event with Doug Killerud and family doing the cooking. This will be held at the staging area at Flowing Park reservoir. Everyone attending will receive a $30 gift certificate to the shop.

Camping: A small group will be going up on Friday night to find a camp spot along the 109 Flowing Park Rd. Several will be camping Saturday night and we plan on working a few hours on Sunday with a short ride after for those interested.

Work Location: Follow Dropoff trail from trailhead south. This trail is motorized single track that has a very short climb right at the start and then is flat to worksite which is located approximately 1.5 miles from the parking area. The connector trail we are building is approximately 1.25 miles long.

Type of work: Light corridor clearing, defining trail and smoothing rocky areas in accordance with flagged trail line.

Personal protection Equipment (PPE) needed: Work boots, pants, work gloves, long sleeve shirt and eye protection.

Other items to bring: Water, lunch/snacks for yourself. Bug spray/sunscreen and hat.

A meal is provided at end of trail work on Saturday. All other meals will need to be provided by yourself.

RSVP on the COPMOBA - GVC Facebook Page or email trails@copmoba.org.

Hope to see you there,
